Tottenham Hotspur continue their fight for Premier League survival against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Victory would lift Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham out of the relegation zone, whilst Brighton can climb to sixth with a win if Brentford fail to win at lunchtime.
Team News
Cristian Romero is ruled out for Tottenham after he suffered a knee injury during their 1-0 defeat at Sunderland.
Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring) could return but Guglielmo Vicario (hernia), Ben Davies (ankle), Mohammed Kudus (quad), James Maddison, Wilson Odobert (both ACL) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) are still ruled out.
Brighton could welcome James Milner back into contention after he suffered a knock in training prior to their 2-0 victory at Burnley.
Lewis Dunk (suspension), Stefanos Tzimas (ACL) and Adam Webster (knee) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Brighton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 18 April at 5:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have won one of their last five meetings against Brighton (W1, D1, L3).
- Brighton have won two of their last eight visits to Tottenham (W2, L6).
- Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1 in each of their two meetings in North London when De Zerbi was Brighton manager between 2022-24 seasons.
- Spurs are winless in their last eight league matches at home (D2, L6).
- Brighton have kept clean sheets in their last two away matches (W2).
Prediction
Still without a domestic win in 2026 after a narrow defeat at Sunderland in which they had their moments but lacked the quality needed to truly trouble the Black Cats, Tottenham ideally need to win this or they risk getting cut adrift quickly.
Romero however is a huge loss given his leadership qualities in defence but what was more worrying was the lack of reaction to falling behind, which has to change because they can’t afford to sulk once they fall behind as their top-flight status is at genuine risk and need every fighting effort possible.
Brighton meanwhile produced a clinical display in which they weathered Burnley’s attacking fight before clinically striking late in both halves, and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see them soak up Spurs’ pressure and hit them on the counter like Nottingham Forest did in Spurs’ last home match.
Many of Brighton’s players also know the high-intensity possession-based approach which De Zerbi deploys from his time in charge of them, so I can see them producing a disciplined counter-attacking display and actually winning this given their upturn in form on the road.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Brighton
Result: Tottenham 2-2 Brighton
