2025-26 UCL Quarter-Finals: First Leg – PSG vs Liverpool

PSG continue their Champions League title defence as they meet Liverpool in the first leg of their Quarter-Final tie.

PSG comfortably dispatched Chelsea in the Round of 16 whilst Liverpool needed a second-leg comeback to see off Galatasaray.

Team News

Bradley Barcola is ruled out for PSG with an ankle sprain which kept him out of their 3-1 Ligue 1 victory against Toulouse.

Senny Mayulu also missed that match after he suffered a calf injury but is set to return for this match subject to late fitness checks following his resumption of training.

Fabian Ruiz (knee) and Quentin Ndjantou (hamstring) remain absent.

Liverpool could welcome Alexander Isak back into the matchday squad following the Swede’s recovery from a leg injury, although he will be on the substitutes bench because he isn’t fit enough to be rushed back into the starting line-up.

Alisson (muscle), Wataru Endo (ankle), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

PSG host Liverpool at Parc des Princes on Wednesday 8 April at 9pm CEST (8pm BST), live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Excluding penalties, PSG have won two of four previous Champions League meetings against Liverpool (W2, L2).
  • Liverpool have won one of two previous Champions League visits to PSG (W1, L1), having lost lost 2-1 in November 2018 then won 1-0 in March 2025.
  • Both Liverpool and PSG have kept one clean sheet in their four previous Champions League meetings, which saw both teams claim 1-0 away wins in their Round of 16 tie last season before PSG won on penalties.
  • PSG have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five Champions League matches at home (W2, D2, L1).
  • Liverpool have won three of their five away games in this season’s Champions League (W3, L2), with both defeats having been 1-0 results at Galatasaray.

Prediction

Having comfortably dispatched Chelsea on aggregate in the last round, PSG can feel confident of getting a result here if they continue to play with the rich quality which they constantly deliver but clean sheets do seem to be their Achilles heel, and could certainly play a factor in this tie if not careful.

Liverpool meanwhile can take some heart from their FA Cup exit at Manchester City because they played well in terms of attack but ultimately lacked a clinical final touch, amidst some awful defending for their four conceded goals so a huge improvement is required if are to test PSG’s quality.

I however just think that PSG have too much depth and quality to not get into another scrap against Liverpool unlike their Round of 16 tie last season, and this could well be one-sided unless the Reds pull off a huge step forward in performance.

Prediction: PSG 3-0 Liverpool

Result: PSG 2-0 Liverpool
