Aston Villa rounded out the top four following a 2-0 loss at rock-bottom Wolves, in which Joao Gomes and Rodrigo Gomes both netted second-half goals for Rob Edwards’ Old Gold.
Down in the relegation zone, second-bottom Burnley suffered a dramatic 4-3 loss at home to Brentford in which Mikkel Damsgaard’s brace plus goals from Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade snatched victory for the Bees, despite Michael Kayode’s own-goal plus Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming’s goals having pulled the Clarets level from 3-0 down.
Tomas Soucek and Taty Castellano both found the net as third-bottom West Ham lost a 5-2 sloppy defensive thriller at Liverpool, in which Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scored for the Reds before Axel Disasi’s own-goal settled the match.
Nottingham Forest remained two points above the drop after they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Brighton in which Danny Welbeck got the Seagulls’ winner, after Diego Gomez’s opener had been cancelled out by the Tricky Trees’ Morgan Gibbs-White.
Elsewhere, Thierno Barry netted a 83rd-minute winner as Everton prevailed 3-2 in a thriller at Newcastle in which they led twice through Jarrad Branthwaite and Beto, only for Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy to equalise for Eddie Howe’s Magpies.
First-half goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi saw Fulham condemn Tottenham to ten league games without victory in a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage, despite Richarlison’s second-half consolatory header for the North-London club.
Evanilson’s 63rd-minute finish saw Bournemouth’s unbeaten run extended to eight matches after they drew 1-1 at home to Sunderland, having initially fell behind to Eliezer Mayenda’s 18th-minute close-range effort.
