2025-26 Premier League: Week 29 – Everton vs Burnley

Everton continue their top-ten push at home to relegation-battling Burnley in a Premier League clash on Merseyside.

Victory would see Everton stay eighth unless they win by three goals or more and Brentford lose at Bournemouth by that same margin, which would lift David Moyes’ Toffees up to seventh.

Second-bottom Burnley can move to within five points of safety with a win.

Team News

Seamus Coleman is again ruled out for Everton after he missed their 3-2 victory at Newcastle due to a knock.

Carlos Alcaraz (knock) and Jack Grealish (foot) are still ruled out.

Burnley could be without Marcus Edwards after he missed their dramatic 4-3 home defeat to Brentford, due to a knock suffered in training.

Armando Broja (knock), Axel Tuanzebe (Achilles), Zeki Amdouni (knee), Josh Cullen (ACL), Conor Roberts (Achilles), Mike Tresor (ankle) and Jordan Beyer (hamstring) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Everton host Burnley at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday 3 March at 7:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 3 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Everton have lost one of their last five league meetings against Burnley (W3, D1, L1).
  • Burnley are making their first visit to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, but have won just one of their last five league visits to the Toffees (W1, L4).
  • Everton have kept three clean sheets in their last five home matches against Burnley in the Premier League.
  • Three of Thierno Barry’s six league goals for Everton this season have been scored at home.
  • Burnley’s Zian Flemming has scored seven goals from 14 shots on target in the top flight this season.

Prediction

Everton’s clinical finishing proved crucial to their victory at Newcastle in which they sloppily conceded twice from in front before Thierno Barry’s winner, but this game is a big opportunity to boost their chances of chasing Brentford down for seventh,

Burnley meanwhile will surely be frustrated at seeing two late chances to complete a comeback against Brentford denied by VAR after they recovered from 3-0 down, but this is a chance to bottle the positivity of their fight back and subsequent frustration into a strong display.

If Scott Parker’s Clarets can do that and score first then we could have a battle on the cards but Everton’s defence on their day can be difficult to break down, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends in an entertaining draw given that both teams are out of the FA Cup so got a week-and-a-half off.

Prediction: Everton 2-2 Burnley

Result: Everton 2-0 Burnley
