Coventry have signed midfielder, Frank Onyeka on loan from Brentford for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Onyeka had made just nine appearances for Brentford this season which led manager, Keith Andrews to green light the 28-year-old midfielder’s loan switch to Coventry, who currently sit top of the Championship on goal difference from Middlesbrough.
Explaining the reasoning behind his decision to allow Onyeka to leave on loan, Andrews admitted that the Nigeria international needs game time and the loan move includes an obligation to buy at the end of the campaign.
He’s someone who has been a big part of our journey although he hasn’t had the minutes or game time that he would have liked.
“I feel it’s right that he goes on to pastures new because he’s a really good professional and a really good person.
“I wish him the best and I have no doubt that he will do really well.”
Speaking to ccfc.co.uk about his loan switch, Onyeka explained that he is pleased to make the switch and is “very happy” to help Coventry in their promotion push.
“I’m a strong midfielder, I’m a winner and I always want to fight for my teammates.
“My aim is to give 100 per cent, bring my experience and help the team get promoted to the Premier League and bring glory to the city again.
“I’m very excited to get going and I’m ready to give my all for Coventry.”
