Coventry City look to reignite their promotion push against relegation-battling Oxford United in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory would see Coventry stay top of the table, whilst Oxford Utd will stay second bottom regardless of the result but a win could move the Us to within two points of safety.
Team News
Frank Onyeka could make his debut for Coventry following his arrival on loan from Brentford on deadline day.
Ephron Mason-Clark is however ruled out after he suffered a foot injury in their 2-1 loss at QPR last weekend.
Kaine Kesler-Hayden (ankle) and Oliver Dovin (knee) remain absent.
Oxford Utd could welcome Jamie Donley (shoulder) and Jack Currie (fitness) back into contention.
Tyler Goodrham (ankle), Nik Prelec (groin) and Hidde ter Avest (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Coventry host Oxford Utd at CBS Arena on Saturday 7 February at 3:01pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Coventry have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Oxford Utd (W2, D2, L1).
- Oxford Utd have won just one of their last six league trips to Coventry (W1, L5).
- Coventry have won two of their last three meetings against Oxford Utd by 3-2 results, whilst their recent clash ended in a 2-2 draw in August 2025.
- Coventry have lost each of their last two matches after scoring first at Norwich then QPR respectively (L2).
- No Oxford Utd player has been involved in more league goals this season than Will Lankshear (7), with the youngster having produced six goals and one assist in 28 appearances.
Prediction
Now sat top on goal difference after two pretty disappointing 2-1 defeats in their last two matches albeit away from home after scoring first, Coventry will be glad to be at home because they need to reset now and just try to find their flair of the first half of the season.
Oxford Utd meanwhile are fighting away at the foot of the table on the outer-fringe of a massive scrap for survival and just weren’t clinical enough when on top at Sheffield United in midweek, so this is a tough ask for them but they do have goals in them despite their defensive fragility.
With that in mind, I expect Coventry to cruise to the win if can get in front early on and tighten up defensively but Oxford Utd do have the quality going forward to cause some issues – especially given how Coventry have let second-half openers slip in their last two matches.
Prediction: Coventry 2-1 Oxford Utd
Result: Coventry 0-0 Oxford Utd
