Roundup of the final full matchweek of Premier League action in 2025 as the three-way title fight continued to remain tight.

Martin Odegaard’s curled finish coupled with Georginio Rutter’s headed own-goal saw Arsenal stay at the summit with a 2-1 victory at home to Brighton, despite Diego Gomez’s consolatory rebound finish for the Seagulls.

Rayan Cherki netted a 83rd-minute winner for second-placed Manchester City who remained two points behind after a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest, in which Tijjani Reijnders put them ahead only for Omari Hutchinson to equalise for the hosts shortly afterwards.

Ollie Watkins’ brace saw third-placed Aston Villa complete a 2-1 comeback victory at Chelsea after Joao Pedro nodded the Blues into a half-time lead.

Down in the relegation zone, Wolves remained rock bottom with a new record 18-match winless start to a Premier League season following a 2-1 loss at Liverpool, as quick-fire goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz lifted the Reds up to fourth despite Santiago Bueno’s consolatory effort.

Burnley remained second bottom after they held Everton to a goalless draw at Turf Moor.

Third bottom West Ham continued to sit five points adrift of safety after a narrow defeat at home to cross-London rivals, Fulham, as Raul Jimenez’s 85th-minute header saw the Cottagers snatch a 1-0 victory.

Elsewhere, Kevin Schade’s hat-trick plus Djorde Petrovic’s own-goal saw Brentford thrash Bournemouth 4-1 in West London, despite Antoine Semenyo’s consolatory flicked finish for the Cherries.

Patrick Dorgu’s 24th-minute volley saw Manchester United scrape a 1-0 Boxing Day victory at home to Newcastle.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 47th-minute equaliser saw Leeds snatch a 1-1 draw at Sunderland, after Simon Adingra smashed the Black Cats into a half-time lead with his 28th-minute finish.
