2025-26 Premier League: Week 16 – Forest vs Tottenham

Nottingham Forest face Tottenham Hotspur in an important Premier League clash in the race for survival and European qualification respectively.

Victory would lift Forest up to 16th in the table and potentially five points clear of the drop, whilst Tottenham can climb as high as seventh with a win.

Team News

Goalkeeper, Matz Sels is a doubt for Forest after he missed their Europa League victory at Utrecht due to a groin injury.

Ryan Yates (hamstring) however is ruled out but Taiwo Awoniyi (muscle) could return.

Angus Gunn, Chris Wood (both knee) and Ola Aina (hamstring) are still ruled out.

Tottenham could welcome Brennan Johnson back after an unspecified injury kept him out of their 3-0 Champions League victory at home to Slavia Prague.

Radu Dragusin (ACL), Kota Taki (foot), Destiny Udogie (hamstring), James Maddison (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Yves Bissouma and Dominic Solanke (both ankle) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Forest host Tottenham at the City Ground on Sunday 14 December at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Forest have won two of their last five meetings against Tottenham (W2, L3).
  • Tottenham have won three of their last four league visits to Forest (W3, L1)
  • Victory would see Forest record three consecutive wins over Tottenham for the first time since April 1996 – March 1997.
  • Forest have scored just one goal in their last three league matches (W1, L2).
  • Cristian Romero has been booked in three of Tottenham’s last four away matches.

Prediction

With just two defeats in their last six league matches, Forest do seem to have turned a corner but converting their chances amidst dominant spells do seem to be an issue as was again the case in their win at Utrecht, but they must be clinical if they want to win this game.

Tottenham meanwhile seem to have turned a corner in their last two games with clean sheets and clinical displays, meaning that the pressure is now on them to continue their improved performance, especially after a ruthless yet controlled display against Slavia Prague.

Although Forest will try to not make this easy, I just can’t see Tottenham losing this if they bring their renewed confidence and energetic attacking press.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Tottenham

Result: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Tottenham
