2025-26 Premier League: Week 16 – Brentford vs Leeds

Brentford meet Leeds United in a huge Premier League clash as both teams look to move away from the relegation zone.

Victory would lift Brentford up to 13th in the table and potentially ten points clear of the drop if West Ham lose in the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

Leeds could start this match in the relegation zone if Nottingham Forest avoid defeat and West Ham win, but victory would lift them back out of the bottom three and up to 16th again.

Team News

Kevin Schade is suspended for Brentford after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in their 2-0 loss at Tottenham.

Reiss Nelson (knock) is a doubt but Fabio Carvalho, Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo remain sidelined with ACL injuries.

Leeds have no fresh injury or suspension concerns following their 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool.

Dan James, Lukas Nmecha (both hamstring) and Sean Longstaff (calf) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford host Leeds at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 14 December at 4:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have won one of four previous Premier League meetings against Leeds (W1, D2, L1).
  • Leeds have won one of their two previous Premier League trips to Brentford (W1, L1).
  • Brentford are yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet at home to Leeds.
  • Igor Thiago has scored five goals in Brentford’s last three home games (W3).
  • Leeds are yet to score away to London-based opposition this season (L2).

Prediction

With contrastable home and away records this season, Brentford will feel confident that they can come into this match ready to bounce back after a pair of 2-0 defeats at Arsenal and Tottenham, where they were just defensively outclassed and lacked the final touches in attack.

Leeds though seem to have turned up their intensity and end product quality in their last few games, especially summed up by their fighting spirit to come from behind twice against Liverpool to draw 3-3, so they need to bring that same attitude but their defensive sloppiness is still a worry with no clean sheets in 12 games.

Brentford though are a gutsy team at home so I can see this being a surprising thriller just like their last meeting here was in September 2022, because I don’t see both giving up and final touches could well be the difference.

Prediction: Brentford 2-2 Leeds
