Coventry City meet Bristol City in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash at the CBS Arena.
Victory could see Coventry move seven points clear at the summit if Middlesbrough lose elsewhere, whilst Bristol City can climb as high as fifth with a win if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Team News
Milan van Ewijk is a doubt for Coventry after he missed their 1-1 midweek draw at Preston due to illness.
Josh Eccles is ruled out after he suffered a calf injury during that match.
Brandon Thomas-Asante (hamstring) and Oliver Dovin (knee) remain absent.
Bristol City could be without defender, Zak Vyner after he suffered a knee injury in their 2-2 comeback draw at home to Leicester.
Rob Atkinson (hamstring), Joe Williams (ankle), Max Bird (calf), Josh Stokes (foot) and Luke McNally (ACL) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Coventry face Bristol City at CBS Arena on Saturday 13 December at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Coventry have lost just one of their last six meetings against Bristol City (W1, D4, L1).
- Bristol City are winless in their last five visits to Coventry (D2 L3).
- Coventry have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches at home to Bristol City in all competitions.
- Five of Coventry’s last six goals at home have been scored by Eccles (2) and Ellis Simms (3).
- No Bristol City player this season has been involved in more league goals than Anis Mehmeti, with the Albanian having produced six goals and assists apiece in 20 appearances.
Prediction
Having endured trips to their bogey away grounds in their last two outings in which they lost 3-0 at Ipswich then drew 1-1 at ten-men Preston, Coventry will be glad to be back home where they will hopefully be able to get back to their sharp winning form.
Eccles though is going to be a big loss in midfield given his current form but his position has quality alternatives, which shouldn’t have much if any impact such is Coventry’s overall form despite their recent blips which is natural but ideal at this stage of the season rather than the run-in.
Bristol City meanwhile are struggling for consistency with just eight points from four of their last eight matches although they did well to come from 2-0 down to hold Leicester, but they will need to be at their best here because Coventry are a much stronger outfit who won’t repeat those sort of errors Leicester made.
This match also marks the start of a run of four matches to close out 2025 in which Bristol City will face the top three clubs during this period, so a strong start is imperative for Gerhard Struber’s Robins if want to stay in the promotion mix.
I however do think that Coventry will have enough quality to grind out the win.
Prediction: Coventry 2-1 Bristol City
Result: Coventry 1-0 Bristol City
