Charlton Athletic have signed 18-year-old midfielder, Otto Tiitinen on a season-long loan from Finland’s Ilves.
Tiitinen’s move to the Addicks comes after two successful seasons with Ilves in which he has scored twice in 41 appearances as a first-team regular, having graduated through their academy into the first-team squad at the start of 2025.
His professional debut came in April 2025 as he netted the winning goal in a 3-2 Veikkausliga victory at home against HJK Helsinki.
Tiitinen’s loan includes an option to sign him permanently should the move prove successful, and he will initially join the Under-21s team before stepping up to the first team in due course.
Charlton’s Head of Emerging Talent, Alistair Clarke explained that Tiitinen is a player that they had scouted thoroughly for over a year, and believes that he has the talent to fit English football.
“Otto is a player our recruitment team have followed extensively for more than a year, initially being highlighted through video analysis within our global scouting, before progressing to live viewings.
“Throughout that process, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional technical ability, while also possessing the physical potential to develop and adapt to the demands of English football.”
