Sarina Wiegman has named England’s 25-woman squad for friendlies against China PR and Ghana.
Uncapped Sophie Baggaley has been called up to join Khiara Keating and Anna Moorhouse in an inexperienced goalkeeping selection with one senior cap between the trio, after Hannah Hampton was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Baggaley initially wasn’t called up for October’s international window but was later added to bolster Wiegman’s goalkeeping options.
Forward, Michelle Agyemang suffered an ACL injury during England’s friendly victory over Australia in October and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, with Lauren Hemp named as her replacement – having missed last month’s fixtures due to an ankle injury.
Freya Godfrey has received her first senior call-up after a solid start to the season with six goals in six appearances for London City Lionesses.
Anouk Denton and Grace Fisk have retained their places in defence after they received late call-ups in October, as Jess Carter drops out to give her some rest time after the NWSL Play-Offs, alongside Katie Reid who is sidelined with an ACL injury.
Jess Park and Grace Clinton both missed last month’s friendlies against Brazil and Australia due to concussion and injury respectively, but both are now back in the squad – although Park has been named in the forward selection rather than her traditional midfield position.
Reflecting on her selection following the official squad announcement, Wiegman explained that her aim is to finish their ‘Homecoming Series’ positively, ahead of their 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers between March – June 2026.
“It’s been another unforgettable year and we’re looking forward to finishing it in the right way with these final two matches of the ‘Homecoming Series’.
“We will have the chance to celebrate our successes in front of our supporters but we’re also fully focused on our objective to qualify for the World Cup.
“With competitive fixtures in March, April and June 2026 these games against non-European opposition will give us some important learnings and development opportunities. It’s another very important window for us to work hard with the players and try different things.”
“To play in front of over 80,000 at Wembley is something that we will never ever take for granted. We thank the fans for their truly incredible support, both at home and abroad, throughout 2025.”
England will face China PR on Saturday 29 November in a 5:30pm GMT kick-off at Wembley Stadium, London, live on ITV1 in the UK, before they host Ghana at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton, on Tuesday 2 December at 7pm live on ITV4.
