Norwich City have appointed Philippe Clement as manager on a three-and-a-half year contract until June 2029.

Clement’s appointment comes just over a week after Liam Manning was sacked with the Canaries sat 23rd in the Championship, having failed to win a league match at home this season.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk about his appointment to the role, Clement explained that he can’t wait to fight to keep Norwich in the second tier and reignite the belief within the club.

“I’m really excited by this story and opportunity. I’ve known of this club for a long time and, whilst we are not in a good moment at this time, we are excited to work together with the players and staff to turn things around.

“Meeting with the owners and hearing some of their ambitions for the club, it really convinced me that this is the best move. They have big plans for the future but, of course, our job in the short term is to turn around the current situation and get everyone believing again.

“I also see the potential in the club and the group of players, and feel totally ready for the challenge ahead.”

Norwich’s Sporting Director, Ben Knapper added that the club is “incredibly excited” to welcome Clement and his assistant manager, Stephan Van Der Heyden, as he spoke of Clement’s managerial values fitting the club’s ambitions.

“Philippe is an incredibly experienced and prominent head coach, with clear values and beliefs that align with ours. He will bring a strong leadership presence and an impressive background having coached some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“Throughout the recruitment process, his methodical approach and detailed analysis of where we currently are, as well as his desire to move things forward, were clear for us all to see.

“We now have an incredible amount of work ahead of us to ensure we improve performances and results, and we will do everything possible to ensure Philippe has our full backing and support.”

Norwich will be the sixth club to be managed by Clement who left Rangers after 16 months in February, and previously enjoyed three separate spells at Club Brugge alongside stints at SK Beveren, Genk and Monaco.

Clement’s first match as Norwich manager sees the Canaries visit Birmingham on Saturday 22 November at 3pm GMT, before his first home match is against Oxford United on Tuesday 25 November (19:45pm).
