Tottenham Hotspur host in-form Aston Villa in a Premier League encounter.
Victory will lift Tottenham up to second in the table, whilst Villa can climb as high as ninth with a win.
Team News
Ben Davies is ruled out for Tottenham after he suffered a muscle injury during Wales’ 4-2 defeat to Belgium.
Randal Kolo Muani (leg) could return but Yves Bissouma, Dominic Solanke (both ankle), Radu Dragusin, James Maddison (both ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Kota Taki (foot) are still ruled out.
Villa will have striker, Ollie Watkins available after he withdrew from England’s victorious trip to Latvia due to a knee injury, which he picked up in their friendly win over Wales.
Jadon Sancho could return after he missed their last three matches due to illness.
Tyrone Mings (ankle) and Emiliano Buendia (concussion) could return but Andres Garcia (unspecified) and Youri Tielemans (calf) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 19 October at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have won two of their last six league meetings against Villa (W2, L4).
- Villa have won three of their last five visits to Tottenham (W3, L2).
- Spurs have scored four goals in two of their last three league meetings against Villa, which comprised of; a 4-0 away win in March 2024 then 4-1 home win in November 2024.
- Two of Richarlison’s three league goals for Tottenham this season have been scored at home.
- Villa are yet to win away to London-based opposition this season (D1, L1), having lost 1-0 at Brentford in the league then drew 1-1 there in Carabao Cup which ended in a 4-2 loss on penalties.
Prediction
Despite their injury issues, Tottenham have done well to find themselves firmly in the title race at present and the win at Leeds would of boosted their confidence after a tricky period of grinding out results, and particularly after a slow start but their creativity got them the result.
Villa meanwhile are continuing to find their groove and come into this off the back of four wins in all competitions, which marks a huge improvement after their slow start but a win here would only cement their progress and grow their belief further.
Spurs though do have a spark about their attacking play which could test Villa’s defence but I do feel like Unai Emery’s Villains will get something here, especially with Watkins and Morgan Rogers having looked like they found confidence again on international duty with England.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Aston Villa
Result: Tottenham 1-2 Aston Villa
