2025-26 League Two: Week Nine – Bromley vs Chesterfield

Bromley host Chesterfield in a massive clash in the early-season race for promotion in 2025-26 League Two.

Depending on the result of Cambridge United’s lunchtime clash against Fleetwood, Bromley could begin the match needing victory to climb back into the play-off placings and could go as high as third depending on results elsewhere.

Chesterfield likewise could go as high as third with a win if results elsewhere swing in their favour.

Team News

Bromley have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-0 defeat at Oldham, with Carl Jenkinson still absent due to a hip injury suffered in pre-season.

Chesterfield manager, Paul Cook could hand summer signing, James Berry a first appearance of the season following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Ryan Stirk (personal) is also back after he missed their 1-1 draw against MK Dons, but Dylan Duffy is still out with a knee injury.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Chesterfield on Saturday 20 September at 3pm BST at the Copperjax Community Stadium, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bromley are yet to beat Chesterfield in the EFL (D1, L1).
  • Chesterfield have won just one of their last seven visits to Bromley (W1, D2, L4).
  • Michael Cheek has scored four goals in Bromley’s last two home games against Chesterfield (W1, D1).
  • Nicke Kabamba has scored in all four of Bromley’s league games at home this season (W2, D2), with three of his four goals netted in the second half.
  • Chesterfield have won two of their four away games this season (W2, L2), in which they scored five goals via five different individual goalscorers.

Prediction

With that first defeat of the season now under their belt, the question now is how Bromley respond to an uncharacteristically sloppy display but they can take heart from the fact that they’re now specifically unbeaten still at home at least coming into a fixture packed with goals.

Chesterfield though are winless in their last four matches in all competitions with 11 goals conceded in those four games, but they do still know how to score goals despite their defensive issues much like Bromley have done.

It is therefore difficult to see a clean sheet for either team but if Bromley play like they did at home to Gillingham a fortnight ago but better defensively, I can see them taking a solid win.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Chesterfield

Result: Bromley 2-2 Chesterfield
