Bromley Head Coach, Andy Woodman has described his team as “masters of our own downfall” after a 2-0 League One loss to AFC Wimbledon.
Having seen their 27-match unbeaten league run at home ended by Leyton Orient last week, Bromley suffered consecutive defeats for the first time since March 2025, as Jayden Stockley headed the Dons in front with an eighth-minute header then set up Myles Hippolyte’s 67th-minute finish.
The result left Woodman’s Ravens sat 21st and just inside the relegation zone in League One.
Woodman post-match explained to UK broadcaster, Sky Sports that he feels that his team are their own worst enemy at present and mastering the art of being their own undoing.
“I just feel we’re being the masters of our own downfall at the moment.
“The first is a poor goal to give away. We don’t stop the cross, which we’ve worked on, making sure we stop the ball coming in at source. When it comes in, we’re not marking.
“The first goal normally kills you and that really did kill us. After that, we’re trying to push and we’re huffing and puffing with no real quality.”
The 55-year-old also iterated this his squad need to mature and grow up in their performance quality if they’re to start finding victories and avoid a relegation scrap.
“We’ve got to really grow up a little bit. We’ve got a little bit of growing up to do in this league. You see the opposition team are smarter, they’re a little bit cleverer. There were a few dark arts that we’re a bit not wise on.
“It’s a learning curve but we’ve got to learn quick.”
