Burnley have signed English full-back, Kyle Walker from Manchester City.
Walker’s move ends an eight-year stint at City where he scored six goals in 319 appearances and won 17 titles across seven different competitions.
- 6 x Premier League
- 4 x EFL Cup
- 2 x FA Cup
- 2 x FA Community Shield
- 1 x UEFA Champions League
- 1 x UEFA Super Cup
- 1 x FIFA Club World Cup
Walker however spent the second half on loan at AC Milan in which he made 15 appearances but the Italian club decided not to sign him on a permanent transfer, which allowed Burnley to swoop in with a £5m offer including add-ons for the 35-year-old.
Following a successful medical, Walker signed a two-year deal with Scott Parker’s newly-promoted Clarets, which sees him reunited with Parker with who he played alongside at Tottenham in 2011-12 & 12-13 seasons.
“I’m delighted to be here,” commented Walker on his move to Turf Moor.
“When I spoke to Scott and heard about his plans for next season, it was an opportunity I jumped at. He’s done an amazing job here, guiding the Club back to the Premier League with a 100-point haul, and now we’re looking forward, together, at being back in the greatest league in the world.
“Burnley had a tremendous campaign last season, built on an incredible defensive record, and I can’t wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad.”
Walker began his career at Sheffield United where he made just seven appearances before he joined Tottenham – amidst a loan spell at Northampton Town, although Spurs did loan him back to the Blades in 2009-10 season before he spent 10-11 campaign loaned out to QPR then Aston Villa.
On his debut for Villa, Walker scored against his former team – Sheffield Utd in a 3-1 away win in the third round of that season’s FA Cup.
Across his first two seasons in North London amidst loan moves, Walker made three appearances before he broke through into the first team on a regular basis in 2011-12 season, and went on to score four goals in 229 appearances the following six seasons before City signed him in July 2017.
Walker is a present member of the England squad with one goal in 96 appearances since he made his senior debut for the Three Lions, which came in a 1-0 friendly home win over Spain in November 2011.
