Liverpool have signed left-wing-back, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40m.
Kerkez’s move to Anfield comes after the 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive season defensively in which he scored twice and contributed five assists for Andoni Iraola’s Cherries.
His consistent performances ultimately saw Liverpool swoop to sign him for £40m, with Kerkez having signed a five-year contract until 2030 and his first Premier League game as a Red will be at home to his former team in the season-opener on Friday 15 August live on Sky at 8pm BST.
In his first interview with liverpoolfc.com, Kerkez explained that he is delighted to join the reigning Premier League champions.
“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.
“After this, I’ll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”
Kerkez also vowed to try and reach his potential whilst at Anfield with the ambition to win trophies with the club.
“Obviously to reach my potential to the fullest and to be the best player I can. And help the team win trophies.
“I think it’s everyone’s dream to win trophies – win the league, win the Champions League – and this club is meant for it. And that’s my dream and I’m going to give everything to reach that.”
Kerkez began his senior career at Gyor where he made 18 appearances before a difficult brief spell at AC Milan before he moved to AZ Alkmaar, where he made nine appearances for their reserve squad in the second-half of 2021-22 season.
That campaign also saw Kerkez manage five senior appearances for the first-team before he proceeded to score five goals in 52 appearances across the 22-23 campaign, which earned him a move to Bournemouth where he scored twice and created six assists in 74 appearances across two seasons.
