Birmingham Kicks Off 2025-26 Championship Season

2025-26 Sky Bet Championship season kicks off at St Andrews’ on 8 August as Birmingham host Ipswich. 

The season kicks off at St Andrew’s Stadium as newly-promoted Birmingham City host relegated Ipswich on Friday 8 August live on Sky Sports at 8pm BST.

Southampton will host newly-promoted Wrexham at St Mary’s Stadium in the main match on Sky Sports Football on Saturday 9 August at 12:30pm, whilst Charlton’s meeting against Watford at The Valley and Coventry’s clash against Hull will be on Sky Sports+ at the same time.

Sky Sports will show an opening weekend rematch of last season’s play-off semi-final between Sheffield United and Bristol City at Bramall Lane on 9 August at 5:30pm, with both clubs now under new managers in Ruben Selles and Gerhard Struber respectively.

The opening weekend concludes on Sunday 10 August as Leicester host Sheffield Wednesday at the King Power Stadium in a 4:30pm kick-off live on Sky, with the Foxes having returned to the second-tier after just one season back in the Premier League.

This season’s run-in will commence with an Easter double header on 3 and 6 April, starting with a blockbuster Good Friday as Southampton host Ipswich in a potential promotion-race showdown, whilst Millwall head to Middlesbrough in what could be a big clash in the play-off hunt.
