Right-wing back, Josh Neufville has departed AFC Wimbledon to join Bradford on a three-year contract.

Neufville contributed five goals and assists apiece in 53 appearances as AFC Wimbledon were promoted to next season’s League One via the League Two Play-Offs.

The 24-year-old however has now opted to join the Dons’ fellow promoted rivals, Bradford City on a free transfer which will be official on 1 July – once his contract with the South-London club expires on 30 June, with Neufville having accepted a three-year contract until June 2028.

Upon confirmation of his decision to join Bradford, Neufville explained to bradforcityafc.com that he is excited to make the switch and play at Valley Parade with view to replicating the atmosphere that he witnessed last season with AFC Wimbledon.

“I am buzzing to be here and I am hungry to get out on the pitch in front of the amazing fans and show what I can do.

“After last season and seeing the scenes here, it made me hungry to sign for the club to try and replicate it.”

Bradford manager, Graham Alexander added that Neufville will be a beneficial player to the squad and can be a long-term development for the coming years at just 24-years-old.

“We are very happy to bring Josh to the club, his dynamism, power and end product will be a great asset for us, as he showed last season in another promotion-winning team.

“We believe he also has plenty of growth in him as a young player, and we very much look forward to helping him maximise his potential.”

AFC Wimbledon shared a short statement on their social media channels thanking Neufville for his contribution to the club’s success over the last two seasons.

“Josh Neufville has today signed for Bradford City. Everyone at Wimbledon would like to thank Josh for his role in our promotion and contributions over the past two seasons. We wish him well for the future.”

Neufville also shared a farewell message to AFC Wimbledon’s fans in which he spoke of his pride at their play-off success.
