Tino Livramento has headlined the squad selected by Lee Carsley for England Under-21s’ title defence at the 2025 UEFA Under-21s Euro.

Livramento had enjoyed a breakthrough season in which he earned his first senior call-up and cap but he will now headline England’s Under-21 squad, who will be seeking to defend their U21s title which they won at the 2023 edition.

The 22-year-old also helped Newcastle end their 70-year wait for a domestic trophy as the Magpies lifted this season’s Carabao Cup, with a clinical 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the final in March 2025.

Teden Mengi is the only defender from a pre-tournament training camp who has been omitted, with the following players called up; Charlie Creswell, Ronnie Edwards, CJ Egan-Riley, Brooke Norton Cuffy and Liverpool’s Premier League title winning defender – Jarell Quansah.

Carsley has surprisingly snubbed Owen Goodman in his goalkeeping selection after the 21-year-old Crystal Palace goalkeeper impressed on loan at AFC Wimbledon, with 25 clean sheets as the Dons won promotion via League Two Play-Offs.

Brighton’s James Beadle instead will headline the goalkeeping options alongside Chelsea’s Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Stoke City’s Tommy Simkin.

Carsley opted against dropping any of his midfield selection with Europa League winner, Archie Gray headlining the midfielders selected, alongside Elliot Anderson, Jobe Bellingham, Hayden Hackney, Tyler Morton and Alex Scott.

Bellingham however dropped out on the Eve of their opening fixture following his transfer to Borussia Dortmund, who are set to feature in the Club World Cup, and was replaced by Tom Fellows.

Brighton’s in-form midfielder, Jack Hinshelwood rounded out the midfield selection after he scored three goals in his last two appearances for the Seagulls, including a late winner at home to Liverpool off the bench.

James McAtee was called up as a late midfield replacement after Dennis Cirkin, Dane Scarlett and Adam Wharton withdrew due to various injuries, but the 22-year-old Manchester City midfielder has now been named in the forward selection.

Liam Delap however missed out just days after he completed a move from Ipswich to Chelsea, and will instead be part of the Blues’ Club World Cup squad.

Harvey Elliott, Omari Hutchinson, Samuel Iling Junior, Ethan Nwaneri, Jonathan Rowe and Jay Stansfield however have made the list.

England kick off their title defence at the tournament – held in Slovakia – against Czech Republic on 12 June (8pm BST), before facing Slovenia on 15 June (5pm BST) followed by a potential group-deciding showdown against Germany on 18 June (8pm).

Every England match across the tournament will be broadcast live on Channel 4 in the UK.
