Rock-bottom Wolves face Premier League leaders, Arsenal in a rearranged fixture at Molineux.
Wolves will remain rock bottom regardless of the result, whilst Arsenal can open a seven-point gap to second-placed Manchester City with a win.
Team News
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-0 fourth-round win at Grimsby in the FA Cup.
Hwang Hee-Chan (calf) and Toti Gomes (hamstring) remain absent.
Arsenal could be without Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White after the defensive duo suffered knocks in their 4-0 fourth-round win over Wigan in the FA Cup, although manager – Mikel Arteta will give both players late fitness tests.
Martin Odegaard missed that fixture due to a knee injury suffered in their last league outing, which saw them draw 1-1 at Brentford and is ruled out for this game too as a precaution ahead of their North London Derby at Tottenham on Sunday 22 February.
Kai Havertz (muscle) is also ruled out but could return on Sunday, whilst Mikel Merino (foot) and Max Dowman (ankle) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves host Arsenal at Molineux on Wednesday 18 February at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves are winless in their last nine meetings against Arsenal (L9)
- Arsenal have won nine of their 11 previous Premier League trips to Wolves (W9, L2).
- Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have kept clean sheets in their last four visits to Wolves, during which they claimed pairs of 1-0 and 2-0 results.
- Wolves have won one of their four league matches at home to London-based opposition this season (W1, L3).
- Martin Zubimendi has created more interceptions this season for Arsenal than any of his teammates, having produced 31 interceptions in 26 league appearances.
Prediction
With relegation now a fair certainty for Wolves amidst a FA Cup run, Wolves were pretty lucky to grind out their win at Grimsby amidst difficult pitch conditions where they initially were slow out of the blocks, so a big improvement is needed because their end product was wasteful at times.
They however managed a clean sheet which will give them a slice of confidence coming into this tough game, but they probably are going to need a miracle to win this.
Arsenal meanwhile clinically dispatched Wigan with such ease in the opening 27 minutes that they could of easily gone on to record a massive victory, yet Arteta made some wise decisions in his substitutions although I personally would of put out more of the young players out of those on the bench.
Either way, Arsenal really should cruise to the win here if can bring that same quality and attitude as they did against Wigan.
Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
Result: Wolves 2-2 Arsenal
