2024-25 Premier League: Week 37 – West Ham vs Nottingham Forest

West Ham host top-five chasing Nottingham Forest in a huge Premier League clash.

If Everton lose in the lunchtime kick-off at home to Southampton, victory would lift West Ham up to 13th in the table.

Forest will stay seventh regardless of the result but defeat would end their hopes of Champions League qualification and a top-five finish.

Team News

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-0 away win at Manchester United.

Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) and Michail Antonio (leg) remain ruled out.

Forest will be without Taiwo Awoniyi after he suffered a ruptured intestine in their 2-2 draw at home to Leicester last weekend.

Murillo (hamstring) is a doubt but Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring) and Eric da Silva Moreira (knock) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Forest at London Stadium on Sunday 18 May at 2:15pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • West Ham have won two of their last five meetings against Forest (W2, L3).
  • Forest have won just one of their six Premier League visits to West Ham (W1, L5).
  • Callum Hudson-Odoi has scored in each of Forest’s last two matches against West Ham (W2).
  • Jarrod Bowen has scored in three of West Ham’s last four matches.
  • Anthony Elanga has created more assists than any other Forest player this season (10).

Prediction

Despite their inconsistent form, West Ham haven’t played too badly in their last two games and were clinical in their win at Man Utd which will give them confidence to bring into their final home game, where they have little pressure in terms of league position to play for.

Forest meanwhile need to realistically win to give themselves the best possible chance of a top-five finish going into the final day, because a draw would leave them needing to beat Chelsea and hope that Aston Villa lose at Manchester United which is a difficult ask.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tricky Trees though looked more energetic against Leicester with a clinical comeback to lead 2-1 before eventually drawing, albeit through two small marking errors for both of the Foxes’ goals so a cleaner defensive display is needed here given that only victory will really do.

West Ham however is Forest’s bogey away ground and the Hammers have little pressure plus improved performances coming into this game, so I do expect this to be pretty close but there is no better time for the visitors to break their Hammers’ away rut.

Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Result: West Ham 1-2 Nottingham Forest
