2024-25 Premier League: Week 37 – Brentford vs Fulham

Brentford host local rivals, Fulham in a massive West London derby as both clubs battle for a top-eight Premier League finish.

Victory will see Brentford stay eighth heading into the final day with their destiny in their own hands.

Fulham can climb to tenth with a win but the Cottagers will only stay in the top-eight race if Brighton fail to beat Liverpool on Monday evening.

Team News

Kristoffer Ajer is available for Brentford after he missed their 1-0 win at Ipswich with an unspecified injury.

Aaron Hickey (hamstring) could make his first appearance since October 2023.

Josh Dasilva (knee), Vitaly Janelt (heel) and Fabio Carvalho (shoulder) remain ruled out.

Fulham could welcome Antonee Robinson (knee) and Sasa Lukic (unspecified) back into contention if pass late fitness checks.

Timothy Castagne (ankle), Harrison Reed (calf), Rodrigo Muniz (Achilles) and Reiss Nelson (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford host Fulham at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 18 May at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have avoided defeat in three of their last five matches against Fulham (W2, D1, L2).
  • Fulham are yet to win away at Brentford in the Premier League (D1, L1).
  • Marco Silva’s Cottagers are yet to be awarded a penalty against Brentford in the Premier League.
  • Victory will see Brentford claim five consecutive top-flight wins for the first time since February – March 1939 in the Old First Division.
  • Fulham are looking to avoid suffering three consecutive league defeats for the first time since December 2023.

Prediction

With Brighton and Bournemouth not in action until Monday and Tuesday evenings respectively, this is a massive chance for a resurgent Brentford to put the pressure on those two if continue to play clinically although they arguably could of won by a larger margin than they managed at Ipswich.

Fulham meanwhile simply must win here to stay in the race for eighth and potential European qualification but after two wasteful displays, they must regroup here and bring more composure whilst cutting out the sloppy marking errors which cost them lately.

I however do think that Brentford will have too much quality on their home turf but Fulham should definitely have enough grit to trouble their West London rivals, although I do think that this will be a pretty entertaining battle no matter the outcome.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Fulham

Result: Brentford 2-3 Fulham
