2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 46 Roundup

Roundup of a massive final day in the 2024-25 Sky Bet Championship as the play-off and survival races came to a climax. 

Second-half goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Manor Solomon saw Leeds come from behind to win 2-1 at Plymouth to snatch the title and relegate Argyle, after the hosts had led at half-time through Sam Byram’s own-goal.

Josh Brownhill’s brace and Jaidon Anthony’s goal ensured that Burnley finished second on goal difference in a comeback 3-1 home win over Millwall after Mihailo Ivanovic had put the Lions into an early lead.

Anel Ahmedhodzic’s equaliser saw third-placed Sheffield United snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn who had led through Yuki Ohashi.

Fourth-placed Sunderland go into the play-offs off the back of five straight defeats following a 1-0 home loss to QPR, as Nicolas Madsen netted a fifth-minute winner for the Hoops.

Jack Rudoni’s brace saw Coventry secure a play-off semi-final against Sunderland with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Bristol City survived a huge scare as Ross McCrorie’s brace salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to Preston, having fell behind to goals from Emil Riis Jakobsen and Milutin Osmajic.

Down in the relegation zone, Yousef Salech’s second-half brace couldn’t prevent Cardiff finishing rock-bottom with a 4-2 loss at Norwich, where Marcelino Nunez struck twice before Borja Sainz and Shane Duffy also netted for the Canaries.

Millenic Alli’s brace and Jordan Clark’s effort couldn’t prevent Luton losing 5-3 at West Brom as Tom Fellows and Callum Styles struck twice for the Baggies, whilst Daryll Dike headed in the hosts’ second goal.

Luton’s slip-up ultimately saw them suffer back-to-back relegations after Hull survived on goal difference with a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth, having led through Matt Crooks before Christian Saydee equalised for Pompey.

Elsewhere, Przemyslaw Placheta rescued Oxford United a 3-3 draw at Swansea in the 93rd minute after the Swans had led through goals from Ji-sung Eom, Ronald and Liam Cullen, although Greg Leigh and Michal Helik had equalised twice for the Us’ prior to Cullen’s goal.

Moussa Sissoko cancelled out Josh Windass’ opening goal as Watford battled back to a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Finally, Derby and Stoke played out a goalless draw at Pride Park which saw both teams survive due to results elsewhere going in
