2024-25 Premier League: Week 28 – Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur host top-four chasing Bournemouth in a huge Premier League clash.

Victory will see Tottenham stay 13th for another matchweek, whilst Bournemouth can go as high as fifth with a win if Chelsea lose elsewhere.

Team News

Dominic Solanke is a doubt for Tottenham after he took a minor knock to his back in their Europa League loss away to AZ Alkmaar.

Ben Davies (unspecified) could return but Dejan Kulusevski (foot), Richarlison (calf) and Radu Dragusin (ACL) remain absent.

Bournemouth could welcome midfielder, Ryan Christie back after he missed their FA Cup win over Wolves with a groin injury.

Julian Araujo (hamstring), Illya Zabarnyi (suspension), Adam Smith (calf), Marcos Senesi (muscle) and Enes Unal (ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Spurs host Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 9 March at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Tottenham have won three of their last five meetings against Bournemouth (W3, L2).
  • Bournemouth have won one of their six previous visits to Tottenham (W1, L6).
  • Two of Spurs’ last three home games against Bournemouth ended in 3-2 results, of which both teams took one win apiece whilst Tottenham won their recent clash in North London by 3-1 result in December 2023.
  • Tottenham have won one of four league games at home in 2025 (W1, L3).
  • Bournemouth are looking to avoid suffering three consecutive league losses for the first time since May 2024.

Prediction

Despite winning three of their last four league games, Spurs have now lost their last two matches in all competitions by a 1-0 result and particularly didn’t look sharp enough in energy or creativity as they laboured to defeat at AZ Alkmaar.

Ange Postecoglou now needs to get his players firing again if they want to return to winning ways and this might just be the ideal fixture given their recent head-to-head record against Bournemouth, but they really need to step it up a gear if want any prospect of salvaging a top-ten finish for domestic pride.

Bournemouth though were made to fight for their win on penalties over Wolves in a tight FA Cup clash where they were wasteful for all of their dominance throughout the match, but they know that this is winnable if they bring their usual intensity.

The first goal however does feel key and unless Spurs can find a reignition spark to their attacking flair, I feel like Bournemouth should have enough to snatch a win.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Bournemouth

Result: Tottenham 2-2 Bournemouth
