Hull City host Plymouth Argyle in a rearranged relegation six-pointer showdown at the foot of the Championship.
Victory will lift Hull up to 19th if Cardiff lose elsewhere and five points clear of the relegation zone, whilst Plymouth can leapfrog Luton into 22nd and sit behind the Tigers on goal difference with a win.
Team News
Eliot Matazo is ruled out for Hull after he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in their defeat at Cardiff.
Louie Barry is also sidelined after he returned to his parent club – Aston Villa with a serious knee injury.
Liam Millar, Mohamed Belloumi (both ACL), Dogukan Sinik (fitness) and Kasey Palmer (ankle) are still ruled out.
Plymouth have no fresh injury concerns to report following their FA Cup exit at Manchester City.
Joe Edwards, Muhamed Tijani (both hamstring), Brendan Galloway (hip) and Ryan Hardie (back) are still sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Hull host Plymouth at MKM Stadium on Tuesday 4 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Hull have lost one of their last six meetings against Plymouth (W3, D2, L1).
- Plymouth have lost two of their last eight trips to Hull (W3, D3, L2).
- Both teams have scored in three of their last four league meetings on Humberside except for Hull’s 1-0 home win in October 2020.
- Hull have scored first in three of their last four home matches in the Championship.
- Plymouth have won just one of 15 away games in all competitions this season (W1, D5, L14).
Prediction
With a week to have reflected upon a sloppy defeat at Cardiff which underlined their inconsistency with just one lot of consecutive wins this season, Hull really need to step up their performance because a win will give them a bit of breathing space to the bottom three.
Plymouth though certainly dug in defensively to make Man City work for their comeback win after snatching an unlikely lead, but I do expect them to come out with a more attacking performance here as they really must change their away form now if want to boost their chance of survival and put more pressure on Hull.
Either way I do expect this game to be a tough scrap and it wouldn’t be surprising if both teams pick up a point.
Prediction: Hull 1-1 Plymouth
Result: Hull 2-0 Plymouth
