Sweden open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Tunisia in Group F.
This match marks Sweden’s return to the World Cup stage after an eight-year absence, whilst Tunisia come into this tournament still looking to get past the group stage at the seventh time of asking.
Team News
Sweden have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad available for selection.
Tunisia could be without Hannibal Mejbri due to a knock.
When is Kick-Off?
Sweden face Tunisia at Estadio BBVA, Guadalupe, Mexico, on Sunday 14 June at 8pm CST (3am BST, Monday 15 June), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Sweden’s first World Cup meeting against Tunisia.
- Tunisia have won one of four previous meetings against Sweden (W1, D1, L2).
- Sweden have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 matches (W3, D3, L5).
- Tunisia conceded six goals in their last two warm-up matches without reply (L2).
Prediction
Having snuck into the tournament via the play-offs which they only qualified for through their UEFA Nations League finish after a poor qualification campaign, Sweden now have a decent chance of starting their campaign on a winning note if can utilise their attacking quality but tighten up defensively.
Tunisia meanwhile are coming into this game off the back of a loss of defensive form in defeats to Austria and Belgium and now need a huge step up in quality, especially as this feels like a must-win game if want any chance of finishing third and progressing one of eight best third-placed teams.
I honestly don’t see a clean sheet coming from either team but Sweden’s quality might be the difference.
Prediction: Sweden 2-1 Tunisia
