2024-25 Premier League: Week 12 – Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace

Aston Villa look to reignite their top-four push against relegation battling Crystal Palace.

If results elsewhere swing in their favour, victory could see Villa climb as high as third in the table.

Should Leicester and Everton both lose elsewhere, Palace can move out of the relegation zone and up to 15th with a win.

Team News

Ross Barkley and Matty Cash could return for Villa after minor injuries kept them sidelined before the international break.

Ezri Konsa (hip), Amadou Onana (foot) and Jacob Ramsey (hamstring) are ruled out but Pau Torres (muscle), Ian Maatsen and Boubacar Kamara (both knock) are doubts.

Palace will welcome midfielder, Will Hughes back from suspension.

Daichi Kamada however begins a three-match ban following his red card in their 3-0 home loss to Fulham.

Chadi Riad (knee), Adam Wharton (groin),Eberechi Eze (hamstring), Matheus Franca (adductor) and Rob Holding (personal) remain sidelined.

Cheick Doucoure (fitness) and Jefferson Lerma (hamstring) are doubts but Eddie Nketiah (hamstring) is unlikely to be available.

When is Kick-Off?

Villa host Palace at Villa Park on Saturday 23 November at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Villa have claimed seven points in their last five league meetings against Palace (W2, D1, L2).
  • Palace are winless in their last seven league visits to Villa (D2, L5).
  • Eberechi Eze has scored three goals in his last two appearances for Palace against Villa in all competitions.
  • Villa will look to avoid suffering three consecutive losses for the first time since February 2023.
  • Marc Guehi has scored in two of Palace’s last three away games on the road.

Prediction

With just one win in their last six league games and winless in their last five in all competitions, Villa seem to be finding out how difficult it is to manage multiple competitions now after recent flat performances like at Liverpool.

Palace meanwhile were just wasteful at home to Fulham but they did at least defend well in phases, yet got outclassed in small moments which proved the difference and hopefully they can bounce back here.

Villa Park though hasn’t been kind to Palace despite their Carabao Cup win here last month, but that result should give them belief that they can get a draw if can bounce back and put the Fulham loss behind them.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Aston Villa 2-2 Crystal Palace
