Ipswich Town meet Leicester City at Portman Road as both teams look to bounce back from Premier League defeats.
Victory would lift Ipswich out of the relegation zone before Crystal Palace’s trip to Wolves at teatime, whilst Leicester can go 13th if West Ham lose elsewhere.
Team News
Harry Clarke is suspended for Ipswich after his red card in a 4-3 loss at Brentford last weekend.
Omari Hutchinson (illness) could return but Jacob Greaves (hamstring), Ben Johnson (thigh) and Sam Morsy (hamstring) are doubts.
Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles) is ruled out of selection indefinitely.
Jack Taylor (unspecified), Massimo Luongo (ankle) and Axel Tuanzebe (hand) remain sidelined.
Leicester could be without Abdul Fatawu and Victor Kristiansen after groin injuries kept the pair out of the Foxes’ 5-2 Carabao Cup loss at Manchester United.
Hamza Choudhury (shoulder) could return if fit but Jakub Stolarczyk and Patson Daka (both ankle) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Ipswich host Leicester at Portman Road on Saturday 2 November at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Ipswich are unbeaten in four of six previous Premier League meetings against Leicester (W3, D1, L2).
- Leicester are winless in three previous Premier League trips to Ipswich (L3).
- Ipswich have won their last two top-flight games against Leicester by a 2-0 result.
- Each of Ipswich’s two losses in four games at home this season have been by 2-0 results.
- Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is looking to score in three consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since he scored five goals in four straight matches from September – October 2021.
Prediction
Although it is easy to feel disappointed by their 4-3 loss at Brentford last weekend, Ipswich should be positive about their strong first-half performance and effort to nearly snatch a draw from 3-2 down.
Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys now need to just keep building because their attack is good enough to get results, but they need to cut out their defensive errors if want to jump out of the relegation zone.
Leicester meanwhile were unsurprisingly outclassed at Man Utd but with nine changes, they did well to score twice, but top-flight survival is their priority and a response is needed to their 3-1 loss against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
I am therefore anticipating a tight game because neither team will want to lose this, but Ipswich’s extra preparation time might be the difference.
Prediction: Ipswich 2-1 Leicester
Result: Ipswich 1-1 Leicester
