Accrington Stanley face high-flying Cheltenham Town in a tricky League Two clash.
Depending on results elsewhere, victory could lift Accrington Stanley as high as 13th in the table.
With leaders, Barnet not in action due to having players on international duty, Cheltenham can go top with a win although a draw could be enough if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Team News
Accrington Stanley have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw at Swindon.
Isaac Sinclair (ACL) and Kelsey Mooney (knee) remain sidelined.
Cheltenham too have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-1 home win over Chesterfield.
When is Kick-Off?
Accrington Stanley host Cheltenham at Wham Stadium on Saturday 3 October at 3pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Accrington Stanley have won one of their last five meetings against Cheltenham (W1, D2, L2).
- Cheltenham are winless in their last seven league visits to Accrington Stanley (D5, L2).
- Accrington have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home matches against Cheltenham (W2, D1), except for a 3-1 win in January 2026.
- Four of Charlie Caton’s five league goals for Accrington so far this season have been scored at home.
- Cheltenham are yet to keep a clean sheet this season in League Two (W4, D3, L1).
Prediction
Having taken the fight to a strong Swindon team away from home and came away with a deserved point in a tight contest, Accrington Stanley now need to start putting wins together because they look capable of more than just mid-table safety if can sort out their fragile defence.
Cheltenham meanwhile look a much sharper team than last season in terms of firepower which has been crucial to some of their wins, yet their defence is still an issue with no clean sheets but that problem applies to many teams at this stage of the season.
Wham Stadium also hasn’t exactly been kind to Cheltenham in their recent visits but if there is a time to end that rut, it’s now as this is a brilliant chance to go top before their nearest rivals return from the international break, but Accrington won’t make it easy.
Prediction: Accrington Stanley 1-2 Cheltenham
