2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 11 Roundup

Roundup of midweek action in the Championship as the promotion race remained close.

Romaine Mundle’s strike saw Sunderland stay at the summit with a 2-1 win at Luton, having initially led through Chris Rigg’s opening goal which was cancelled out by Elijah Adebayo.

Burnley remained second after Zian Flemming’s header salvaged a 1-1 draw at Hull after Xavier Simons had put the Tigers ahead at half-time.

Early strikes from Largie Ramazani and Brenden Aaronson fired third-placed Leeds to a 2-1 win over Watford, despite Kwadwo Baah’s second-half consolatory rebound effort for the Hornets.

Emmanuel Latte Lath’s late header saw Middlesbrough defeat Sheffield United 1-0 at home, which dropped Chris Wilder’s Blades to fifth on goal difference.

West Brom took advantage of Sheffield Utd’s loss to go fourth with a goalless draw at sixth-placed Blackburn.

Down in the relegation zone, Portsmouth slipped to bottom of the table with a 2-0 loss at Cardiff, as Regan Poole’s own-goal and Callum Robinson’s strike lifted the Bluebirds out of the bottom three.

QPR consequently fell to second-bottom after Kieran Morgan’s volley secured a comeback 1-1 draw at home to Coventry, as Haji  Wright’s fourth-minute goal couldn’t prevent the Sky Blues slipping into the bottom three.

Plymouth sit two points above the drop zone following a 1-0 loss at Millwall, in which Romaine Esse struck a 13th minute winner.

Elsewhere, goals from Borja Sainz and Shane Duffy saw Norwich fight back to a 2-2 draw at Preston, following Sam Greenwood’s early penalty and Duane Holmes’ effort for the hosts.

Nakhi Wells’ quick-fire second-half brace rescued Bristol City a 2-2 draw at Stoke after loanees, Lewis Koumas and Andrew Moran put the Potters into an early 2-0 lead.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing cancelled out Dane Scarlett’s early goal as Derby fought back to draw 1-1 at Oxford United.

Finally, Sheffield Wednesday played out a goalless draw against Swansea at Hillsborough.
