2026-27 Premier League: Week Six – Aston Villa vs Brentford

Aston Villa face a difficult test against in-form Brentford in a tricky Premier League clash at Villa Park.

Victory could lift Villa as high as tenth if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Brentford can go second with a win if Leeds beat Arsenal in the lunchtime kick-off.

Team News

Marco Bizot (back), Matty Cash (leg), Pau Torres (hamstring), Leon Goretzka (knee), Alysson (muscle) and Brian Madjo (ankle) are set to be available for Villa.

Ian Maatsen (ankle) and Amadou Onana (ACL) remain sidelined.

Brentford will be without Mikkel Damsgaard after he suffered an ankle injury whilst on international duty for Denmark.

Dango Ouattara is a doubt due to illness which saw him play no part in Burkina Faso’s fixtures during the international break.

Nathan Collins (calf), Mathias Jensen (strain), Josh Dasilva (hamstring), Sepp van den Berg (groin) and Antoni Milambo (ACL) could feature in the matchday squad.

Kaye Furo (unspecified) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Villa host Brentford at Villa Park on Saturday 10 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Villa have lost two of their last eight league meetings against Brentford (W4, D2, L2).
  • Brentford have won one of their last 11 league visits to Villa (W1, D6, L4).
  • No Villa player attempted more shots in their first five league matches than Emiliano Buendia (5).
  • Kevin Schade has attempted more shots on target than any other Brentford player in their first five league games this season (6).

Prediction

Having endured a slow start to the season, Villa finally seemed to find their domestic groove just before the break with consecutive wins over Coventry and Tottenham in all competitions and now is a chance to translate that improvement onto their own turf.

Brentford meanwhile are looking rock solid after a ruthlessly clinical demolition of Chelsea last time out but Damsgaard will be a loss, although this is a chance for Milambo to immediately step up on his return from injury and make an impact in the Dane’s place.

Villa Park though isn’t exactly Brentford’s happiest hunting ground and especially against a rejuvenated Villa so I am expecting a tough scrap, which could well end in a point apiece.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford
