Newport County host Chesterfield at Rodney Parade in a Sky Bet League Two clash.
Victory would see Newport leapfrog Chesterfield and climb to ninth, although they could go eighth if can win by two goals or more.
Chesterfield meanwhile can go seventh with a win.
Team News
Newport will welcome defender, Anthony Driscoll-Glennon back from suspension, after he missed their 1-0 loss at Harrogate.
Chesterfield will be without Tom Naylor who is suspended, following his fifth booking of the season in their 2-2 draw against Notts County.
Ryan Boot (wrist) is a doubt but Chey Dunkley (neck) is also sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Newport County host Chesterfield at Rodney Parade on Friday 18 October at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Newport County have lost one of their last five meetings against Chesterfield (W3, D1, L1).
- Chesterfield are winless in their last seven trips to Newport County (D1, L6).
- Both teams have scored in three of their last four meetings at Rodney Parade, except for 1-0 home win to Newport in March 1987.
- Newport have failed to keep a clean sheet in five home games this season (W4, L1).
- Chesterfield have been held to 2-2 draws in each of their last three league matches.
Prediction
With just one clean sheet this season but having scored in their five home games, Newport certainly are a strong team in terms of attack yet are defensively poor but they did well to only suffer a narrow defeat at Harrogate.
Chesterfield meanwhile have their own defensive issues but like Newport, they do have a strong attack, and will be disappointed to had conceded twice against Notts County in their 2-2 draw from going in front twice.
This clash therefore does feel like it will have goals given how leaky both defences are amidst equally solid attacks, so a high-scoring draw wouldn’t be a surprise despite Chesterfield’s away woes at Newport.
Prediction: Newport County 2-2 Chesterfield
Result: Newport County 0-3 Chesterfield
