Becky Langley has signed a new long-term contract as manager of Newcastle Women.

Langley guided the Magpies to consecutive promotions in the last two seasons from Women’s National League Division One North, then Women’s National League and will now spend this season in the Women’s Championship.

Speaking about her decision to commit her future to Newcastle, a “delighted” Langley explained that she is keen to achieve the club’s ambitions following discussions with Sporting Director, Paul Mitchell, and Head of Women’s Football, Su Cumming.

“I will give everything to achieve our aims together and I am unapologetically ambitious for Newcastle United Women. Here’s to an exciting future.”

Mitchell added: “Becky’s new contract is fully deserved. I’ve been in constant contact with her since arriving at the club in the summer and I’ve been hugely impressed.

“It’s clear to see Becky’s talent and the potential she has in her coaching career. I’m looking forward to working together and supporting Becky, the players and staff as we build towards our ambitious objectives.”

Newcastle United CEO, Darren Eales praised Langley for her achievements at the club and is thrilled to see what they can do this season, with new signings like Demi Stokes and Rachel Furness having joined this summer.

“A huge congratulations to Becky. We have been delighted by the progress and success that has been achieved by Newcastle United Women, and Becky has done a fantastic job in leading the team.

“We are delighted to acknowledge and reward her contribution in this way and we are excited about what is to come as we embark on an historic first season in the Women’s Championship.”

Newcastle Utd Women begin their season away to London City Lionesses on Sunday 8 September at 2pm BST, at the Lionesses’ new home following a groundshare agreement with Bromley at Hayes Lane.
