Roundup of the third matchweek of 2024-25 Premier League season.

Erling Haaland’s hat-trick saw Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 at London Stadium to stay top, despite Ruben Dias’ 19th minute own-goal costing them a clean sheet.

Luis Diaz’s brace and a second-half goal from Mohamed Salah saw Liverpool win 3-0 at Manchester United, which put Arne Slot’s Reds second on virtue of two fewer goals scored than Man City.

Brighton and Arsenal sit third and fourth after they played out a 1-1 draw at the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium, in which Joao Pedro cancelled out Kai Havertz’s lobbed strike after Declan Rice was sent off for dissent.

Alexander Isak’s strike saw Newcastle round out the top five with a 2-1 home win over Tottenham, having initially led through Harvey Barnes’ opener before Dan Burn’s own-goal pulled Spurs level.

Down in the relegation zone, Everton sat rock-bottom after blowing a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Bournemouth, having led through Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin before Antoine Semenyo, Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra completed the Cherries’ comeback.

Southampton sit second-bottom after losing 3-1 at Brentford through Bryan Mbeumo’s brace and Yoane Wissa’s goal, despite Yukinari Sugawara’s injury-time consolatory goal for the Saints.

Wolves picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde cancelled out Chris Wood’s goal, which left Gary O’Neil’s Old Gold sat third bottom.
