2024-25 Premier League: Week Four – Liverpool vs Forest

Early Premier League title chasers, Liverpool face Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

Victory could see Liverpool go top if they better Manchester City’s result, whilst Forest can go third for at least a few hours with a win if Brighton lose elsewhere.

Team News

Federico Chiesa could make his Liverpool debut after he missed their victory at Man Utd for personal reasons.

Harvey Elliott (foot) is ruled out after he suffered a broken foot whilst on international duty for England Under-21s.

Curtis Jones (unspecified) and Alexis Mac Allister (knock) are expected to be available for selection.

Forest will be without defender, Willy Boly after he suffered a calf injury on international duty for Ivory Coast.

Danilo (ankle) remains sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Forest at Anfield on Saturday 14 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Liverpool have lost just one of their last eight league meetings against Forest (W5, D2, L1).
  • Forest have earned just one point in seven Premier League visits to Anfield (D1, L6).
  • Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez scored in both appearances against Forest last season (W2).
  • Liverpool are yet to concede under Arne Slot (W3).
  • Forest have scored first in each of their opening three league matches (W1, D2).

Prediction

Sat second on virtue of two fewer goals than Man City, Liverpool will relish this clash given their home form over Forest and I just don’t see them losing this especially after how clinically they thrashed Man Utd a fortnight ago.

Forest meanwhile have proven very difficult to beat so far this season – excluding their Carabao Cup exit to Newcastle on penalties – but at Anfield, their defence has to be solid yet attack be clinical if they want anything here.

I however just don’t see that happening but they should at least give Arne Slot’s Reds more of a fight than Utd did.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Result: Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest
