QPR have signed striker, Žan Celar from Switzerland’s Lugano for an undisclosed fee.
Celar’s move to Loftus Road came after QPR beat several Championship rivals to secure his signature, after he netted 51 goals in 116 appearances across the last three seasons – including 21 goals across last season alone.
The 25 year-old is eager to begin work at QPR and feels that he can “adapt well” to the second-tier, despite the increase in number of fixtures per season compared to his previous clubs.
“I can’t wait to start, join the team, join my new team-mates, start training and start matches.”
“I know there are a lot of games but I like to play games, so I can’t wait.
“The next step now is important for me and I think this is the right place. I will try to do what I have been doing and hopefully I can help the team with my goals.”
Celar most recently was part of the Slovenia squad which reached the Round of 16 at this summer’s UEFA Euro 2024, only to exit on penalties to Portugal after a gutsy goalless draw.
“I have had enough of a rest,” commented Celar on his recent holiday but is keen to commence training. “I am very excited to start training and to start matches with my new team-mates.”
QPR CEO, Christian Nourry added that he is “delighted” on behalf of the club to welcome Celar to West London, and iterated his respect of the 25 year-old for trusting the Hoops to be his new team.
“That Žan chose to join QPR amidst a myriad of other suitors in our division and outside of it demonstrates the level of thought put into his decision.
“I trust our supporters will do their best to help him feel welcome as he acclimatises to the Championship.”
