Blackburn will host Derby County in the opening fixture of 2024-25 Championship season.
Blackburn will open the new season at Ewood Park against newly promoted Derby who return to the second tier after a two-season absence, with the tie broadcast live on Sky Sports on Friday 9 August at 8pm BST.
Relegated Sheffield United’s trip to Preston will also be broadcast on Sky Sports that evening before eight matches are broadcast live across Sky Sports and the new Sky Sports + on Saturday 10 August at 12:30pm BST.
Out of those eight games, Oxford United’s clash against Norwich at Kassam Stadium will be aired live on Sky Sports Football, with the rest all available on Sky Sports + to stream.
Sky will head to Hillsborough on Sunday 11 August at 4pm for a clash between Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth, who both survived relegation on the final day of last season.
The opening weekend concludes with a blockbuster match-up between two relegated teams as Luton face Burnley at Kenilworth Road on Monday 12 August at 8pm.

2025 gets underway with a round of fixtures on New Year’s Day with Sunderland’s clash against Sheffield United looking a stand-out tie, whilst Derby’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday could be important if both teams are fighting for survival.

The regular season will reach its conclusion on weekend of 3-4 May 2025 with all 12 fixtures played at the same time concurrently as is tradition, with Leeds’ trip to Plymouth looking an immediate headline tie alongside a potential top six battle between Coventry and Middlesbrough.

This season also sees the return of the Steel City derby between Sheffield Utd and Sheffield Wednesday, with the first fixture scheduled for weekend of 9 November at Bramall Lane.
The return leg will then take place at Hillsborough on weekend of 15 March subject to either team reaching the Carabao Cup Final that weekend.
