Viaplay have retained broadcast rights for F1 in Netherlands and Nordic region until 2029.
The deal will cover the 2025-29 seasons and see Viaplay continue as the main F1 broadcaster within the Netherlands plus following Nordic countries; Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Fans will continue to receive coverage of every practice, qualifying, Sprint events and Grands Prix across the next five seasons, following an increase in viewership with circa 12 million Dutch viewers watching in the Netherlands last season.
Dutch fans who subscribe to Viaplay will still be allowed to access F1 TV Pro – with international commentary, onboard cameras, Pit Lane and Paddock feeds, in-race radio transmissions – alongside Viaplay’s full range of content across sport, films and TV series.
Almost 5,5m viewer tuned in across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden last season as the sport continued to enjoy year-on-year growth in the Nordic region.
F1 Director of Media Rights and Content Creation, Ian Holmes described the renewal as “historic” whilst enabling “F1 and Viaplay continue to push the boundaries of innovation, so our fans never miss a moment of wheel-to-wheel action for years to come.”
Viaplay Group President and CEO, Jørgen Madsen Lindemann added: “We are proud to renew our partnership with Formula 1 in our longest agreement so far.
“This shows Viaplay Group’s commitment to competing for the long term and growing profitably in the Netherlands and Nordics, and to offering our viewers the most attractive and relevant content available anywhere.”
Reigning three-time champion, Max Verstappen who is an ambassador for Viaplay is “thrilled” to see F1 and Viaplay secure a new long-term broadcasting contract, whilst allowing Dutch fans to continue watching the action for five more seasons.
