Brighton and Hove Albion have signed defender, Gabby George from Manchester United for an undisclosed transfer fee.

George’s departure comes after three years at Utd where she netted one goal in 54 appearances with the Red Devils having accepted an undisclosed fee from Brighton for the 29-year-old who has signed an undisclosed contract.

Brighton Women’s Head Coach, Dario Vidosic is “delighted” to sign George who he believes will bring versatile tactical options and quality to further improve their gameplay.

“Her versatility in defence gives us fantastic options and her technical quality on the ball will help elevate how we want to play.

“She understands what it takes to perform at the highest level in this league week in, week out, and her leadership both on and off the pitch will strengthen our group tremendously.

“We have big ambitions for the season ahead and adding a player of Gabby’s calibre and character is a massive step forward for us.”

George began her career at Everton where she made her senior debut at 17-years old in 2014 and went on to score five goals in 152 appearances across nine years.

She then moved to Man United in September 2023 but her first season at Utd was curtailed after just four appearances due to an Anterior-Cruciate Ligament injury, which meant that she missed out on featuring in their Women’s FA Cup title-winning campaign.

George eventually went on to feature in their runs to the Women’s FA Cup and League Cup Finals in each of the last two seasons, which both ended in defeats to Chelsea.

At international level, George has made three senior appearances for England after progressing through their youth ranks.
