2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 45 – Tuesday

Coventry host promotion-chasing Ipswich at CBS Arena in a huge Championship clash.

Victory would see Coventry climb to eighth in the table, whilst Ipswich can go second with at least a draw to put promotion in their own hands on the final day.

Liam Kitching is suspended for Coventry after he was red carded in their goalless draw at Blackburn.

Luis Binks (Achilles), Victor Torp (stomach) and Ben Sheaf (muscle) are unlikely to feature but Tatsuhiro Sakamoto (back) and Fabio Tavares (ankle) remain absent.

Ipswich have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-3 draw at Hull.

Brandon Williams (leg) and Janoi Donacien (adductor) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Coventry host Ipswich at CBS Arena on Tuesday 30 April at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Coventry have lost three of their last six league meetings against Ipswich (W1, D2, L3).
  • Ipswich have won one of their last five league visits to Coventry (W1, D3, L2).
  • Coventry have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 meetings at home to Ipswich in all competitions, during which both teams scored in their last 12 clashes.
  • Haji Wright has been involved in 20 league goals for Coventry this season, having scored 15 goals and created five assists in 42 appearances.
  • Ipswich have kept one clean sheet in their last four away matches (W1, D1, L2).

Prediction

With their play-off ambitions now over, Coventry now can relax slightly coming into this game after a scrappy goalless draw where energy was flagging a bit as can happen at this point of the season, so hopefully they can pick themselves up for one last strong home performance.

Ipswich though need to be more defensive solid because to blow the lead three times against Hull is poor – especially when a win would of put them on the verge of promotion coming here, yet that draw means that they can put their fate in their own hands going into the final day.

Coventry though haven’t exactly been a strong away game for Ipswich in recent trips but if they can cut out the defensive errors, they will surely have promotion in their hands on the final day.

Prediction: Coventry 1-2 Ipswich

Result: Coventry 1-2 Ipswich
