Roundup of a dramatic matchweek as the promotion race delivered more twists in the Championship.

Leicester began the weekend sat top of the table but suffered a shock 1-0 loss at Plymouth through Mustapha Bundu’s 21st minute curled winner.

Third-placed Leeds proceeded to miss a chance to leapfrog the Foxes with a 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn, courtesy of Sammie Szmodics’ 82nd minute winner for the visitors from Tyrhys Dolan’s flicked pass.

Ipswich consequently benefitted from their promotion rivals’ slip-ups to move top following a comeback 1-1 draw at home to Middlesbrough, as Massimo Luongo’s volley cancelled out Emmanuel Latte Lath’s strike.

Flynn Downes’ injury-time goal salvaged a 3-2 home win for Southampton against Watford after they blew a 2-0 lead, before Russell Martins’ Saints proceeded to move to within four points of the top two with a 3-0 midweek win over Preston through Che Adams’ brace and Stuart Armstrong’s goal.

Fifth-placed West Brom suffered a narrow defeat at home to Sunderland as Pierre Ekwah struck a smash-and-grab winner in first-half injury-time, after the Baggies’ Brandon Thomas-Asante has been red carded for two bookable offences.

Norwich rounded out the top six after Gabriel Sara netted a 86th minute winner away to Preston in a tightly-fought contest at Deepdale.

Down in the relegation zone, already-relegated Rotherham lost 1-0 at Swansea due to Andy Rinomhota’s 74th minute own-goal.

Sheffield Wednesday missed a chance to climb to safety as they found themselves held to a 1-1 draw against Stoke at Hillsborough, having led through Liam Palmer before Luke Cundle rescued the Potters a point in their battle for survival.

Josh Koroma’s 81st minute goal couldn’t secure victory for third-bottom Huddersfield in an eventual 1-1 draw at Bristol City, after Nakhi Wells scored an injury-time penalty following Oliver Turton’s handball.

Bobby Thomas’ own-goal fired Birmingham City out of the bottom three with a 3-0 home win over Coventry, during which Ivan Sunjic and Jay Stansfield also found the net.

Hull boosted their fading play-off ambitions with a ruthless 3-0 home win over QPR as Ozan Tufan, Fabio Carvalho and Jaden Philogene found the net.

Goals from Jake Cooper and Duncan Watmore fired Millwall to a 3-1 home win over Cardiff, having initially led through Michael Obafemi before Yakou Meite levelled for the Bluebirds.
