2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 44 – Saturday

Leicester City face West Bromwich Albion at King Power Stadium in a huge Championship clash.

Victory or a draw would put Leicester back top of the table, whilst West Brom will remain fifth with a win.

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report after their loss at Plymouth but Patson Daka could be dropped, owing to his dip in form with Kelechi Iheanacho looking for a start up front.

Harry Souttar (knock) remains sidelined.

West Brom will be without Brandon Thomas-Asante who is suspended for this match after his red card in their 1-0 home loss to Sunderland.

Daryl Dike (Achilles) and Jayson Molumby (foot) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester host West Brom at King Power Stadium on Saturday 20 April at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester have won five of their last six league meetings against West Brom (W5, D1).
  • West Brom have lost one of their last five league visits to Leicester (W2, D2, L1).
  • Leicester haven’t claimed consecutive league wins at home against West Brom since 1965-66 and 66-67 seasons.
  • Enzo Maresca’s Foxes have kept one clean sheet in their last ten league matches (W3, D1, L6).
  • West Brom have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five away games (W1, D4).

Prediction

Amassing just 10 points from their last 10 matches is a pitiful return for a team of Leicester’s quality at this crucial stage of the season, but they simply need to be more clinical because they were absolutely wasteful at Millwall and Plymouth with defending errors ruthlessly punished.

Maresca’s Foxes otherwise are doing everything right in terms of dominance and attacking play but they have to convert their chances with more composure, particularly now that Southampton are starting to breath down their necks ahead of their clash on Tuesday.

West Brom meanwhile seem to have been in cruise mode somewhat lately with three draws in their last five games, yet they do seem to have a play-off spot sewn up unless they utterly implode and lose their last three matches and Hull can win their remaining matches.

Carlos Corberan’s Baggies however are in better form than Leicester so I do expect a tough competitive encounter, of which a draw might just be the fairest outcome unless the Foxes find their clinical edge.

Prediction: Leicester 1-1 WBA

Result: Leicester 2-1 WBA
