2023-24 Premier League: Week 31 – Burnley vs Wolves

Relegation-battling Burnley entertain top-ten chasing Wolves at Turf Moor.

Victory could move second-bottom Burnley to within one point of the safety mark, whilst Wolves can go seventh with a win if Newcastle and West Ham both lose elsewhere.

When is Kick-Off?

Burnley host Wolves at Turf Moor on Tuesday 2 April at 7:45pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Burnley are unbeaten in seven of their last eight league meetings against Wolves (W4, D3, L1)
  • Wolves are winless in their last six visits to Burnley (D2, L4).
  • Victory would see Wolves do the league double over Burnley for the first time since 2009-10 season.
  • Anything other than defeat would see Burnley go four league matches unbeaten for the first time since a 22-match unbeaten run between November 2022 – April 2023.
  • Wolves have claimed seven points in five league matches away from Molineux in 2024 (W2, D1, L2).

Prediction

Currently four points adrift of safety and with a decent home form in this specific fixture, Burnley certainly can start to believe that a great escape could be possible especially after a gutsy comeback draw at Chelsea but they now need to find wins if really want to stay up.

Wolves meanwhile were simply undone by two moments of poor defensive play in their defeat at Aston Villa, although their attack otherwise did lack end product so more composure and quality is ideally needed here.

Burnley though have found their groove and in front of a packed home crowd, they really should have the edge if Wolves can’t end their Turf Moor hoodoo but this should be pretty close if Wolves can cut out their recent defensive dip.

Prediction: Burnley 1-0 Wolves

Result: Burnley 1-1 Wolves
