2023-24 Premier League: Week 31 – Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace

Bournemouth meet relegation-battling Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium.

Victory could see Bournemouth move up to 11th if Fulham fail to win elsewhere, whilst Palace will stay 14th regardless of their result.

Ryan Christie is a doubt for Bournemouth after he missed their win over Everton with a knee injury.

Ryan Fredericks (calf), Luis Sinisterra and Marcos Senesi (both hamstring) remain absent.

Palace have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Sam Johnstone (elbow), Michael Olise, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (both hamstring), Marc Guehi (knee), Rob Holding (ankle), Matheus Franca (adductor)  and Cheick Docoure (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Palace at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday 2 April in a 7:45pm BST kick-off, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have won one of their last six Premier League meetings against Palace (W1, L5).
  • Palace are unbeaten in five of six previous Premier League visits to Bournemouth (W3, D2, L1).
  • Victory would see Bournemouth do the league double over Palace for the first time within England’s top-flight.
  • Eight of Dominic Solanke’s 16 league goals for Bournemouth this season have been scored at home.
  • Jean-Philippe Mateta has been caught offside on more occasions than any other Palace player this season, having found himself offside on 13 occasions in 26 league appearances.

Prediction

Although European qualification does look unlikely, Bournemouth can’t be totally ruled out of a dark horse gallop if they play their remaining cards right but they first will need to be as clinical as they were to beat Everton minus a goalkeeping error from Neto to get a result here.

Palace meanwhile are surely on course for safety and a victory here at one of their more favourable away trips would do them nicely, but they were wasteful in their draw at Forest for all of their attacking dominance and energy whilst a small defensive error cost them the win.

I however do expect this game to be just as close but if Palace aren’t more composed in their end product, I do fancy Bournemouth to nick something here.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace
