Richard Verschoor has re-joined Trident for the 2024 F2 season.
Verschoor previously drove for Trident in the 2022 season which saw him win the opening Sprint Race of the season in Bahrain, before he went on to take three second-placed finishes in Saudi Arabia and Dutch Feature Races plus Abu Dhabi Sprint Races as he finished 12th in the standings.
The 23 year-old however switched to Van Amersfoort Racing for the 2023 season which saw him win the Austrian Feature Race, then claimed a pair of third-placed finishes in Italy and Abu Dhabi as he improved to ninth in the standings.
Verschoor returned to Trident for the 2023 Macau Grand Prix where he finished sixth and will now remain with the Italian team as he heads into his fourth season in F2.
Speaking about his decision to return to Trident for the 2024 F2 season, a “delighted” Verschoor commented: “After our successful collaboration in 2022, I am excited to be back with my Italian family and look forward to starting working with them on the development of the new car.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and I’m ready to take on this new challenge!”
Trident Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci is “very pleased” to welcome Verschoor back as he reflected on Verschoor’s season with the team in 2022, as he said: “At the end of the 2022 season, the Dutch rider had left a great memory and we are very motivated and proud to have him back with us.
“I’m sure we have all the ingredients to have a competitive season. Verschoor is a fast and experienced driver, who rarely wastes the opportunities available to him. We aim to do our best to support him and achieve increasingly ambitious goals together.”
Verschoor previously drove for MP Motorsport and Charouz in his rookie F2 campaign in 2021 and has amassed one victory in each of his three seasons in F2, plus five further podium finishes in total.
