Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur in a huge Premier League clash between two under-fire teams.
Victory would see Man Utd climb to eighth if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Tottenham could move out of the relegation zone with a win – although a draw would move them off the foot of the table if Fulham lose at Ipswich.
Team News
Karl Darlow, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are doubts for Man Utd, after the trio withdrew from international duty for Wales and England respectively due to knocks.
Patrick Dorgu is ruled out with a hamstring injury suffered on international duty for Denmark, whilst Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt with a back injury which he suffered on international duty for Morocco.
Amad Diallo (ankle/muscle) and Matthijs De Ligt (back) could feature if pass late fitness checks.
Tom Heaton (hamstring), Manuel Ugarte (knee) and Benjamin Sesko (shin) are sidelined.
Tottenham will have defender, Mickey van de Ven available after he suffered a minor finger injury during Netherlands’ 2-1 Nations League victory at home to Serbia in their last match of the international window.
Jan Paul van Hecke is also available after he recovered from a foot injury suffered whilst on international duty for Netherlands.
Pedro Porro is ruled out after he suffered a hamstring injury during Spurs’ 3-2 loss to Aston Villa just before the international break.
Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Mykhailo Mudryk (ankle), Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons (both ACL) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd host Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday 10 October at 5:30pm BST, televised live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have won one of their last seven Premier League meetings against Tottenham (W1, D3, L3).
- Tottenham have claimed seven points in their last six visits to Man Utd (W2, D1, L3).
- Bruno Fernandes has been involved in four of Man Utd’s eight league goals so far this season, having produced three goals and one assist in five appearances.
- No London team in this season’s Premier League has produced fewer goals in their first five matches than Tottenham (2).
Prediction
With no clean sheets and inconsistent results so far this season, Man Utd really need to up their game and play with their known potential or they risk getting sucked right into the relegation scrap if those below them were to all pick up points this weekend.
I however do feel that Michael Carrick has plenty of injury issues coming into this match which isn’t ideal because he realistically needs Mainoo and Rashford available here.
Tottenham meanwhile managed to avoid going into the break without a goal after two late goals in a futile home defeat against Villa, yet it is a concern that they only scored once 3-0 down rather when they were on top which shows how wasteful they are.
At this point given how inconsistent and poor both teams have been, I honestly don’t expect much other than a point apiece.
Prediction: Man Utd 1-1 Tottenham
Result: Man Utd 1-1 Tottenham
