2023-24 Premier League: Week 14 – West Ham vs Crystal Palace

West Ham host Crystal Palace in a London derby at the London Stadium.

Victory would see West Ham move up to eighth if Brighton lose elsewhere, whilst Palace can go 11th if Chelsea lose to Brighton.

Jarrod Bowen could return for West Ham after he missed their last two matches with a knee injury.

Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and Vladimir Coufal (all illness) could return but Michail Antonio (knee) remains absent.

Palace will be without Cheick Doucoure after he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in their defeat at Luton.

Eberechi Eze (ankle) is also ruled out but James Tomkins (calf) is available for selection.

Dean Henderson (muscle), Rob Holding (ankle) and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Palace at London Stadium in a 2pm GMT kick-off on Sunday 3 December, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • West Ham have lost four of their last eight meetings against Palace (W2, D2, L4).
  • Palace are unbeaten in five of their last six visits to West Ham (W2, D3, L1).
  • West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six home games against Palace.
  • David Moyes’ Hammers have scored 11 goals in five of their six league matches at home this season.
  • Cheick Doucoure has played more through balls than any other Palace player in the Premier League this season, having contributed five through ball passes in 11 appearances.

Prediction

Having stuttered to wins over Burnley and TSC, West Ham will be glad to hopefully have Bowen back because he is a key part of their attack and should bring more energy but they have done well to scrape two wins without him.

Palace meanwhile will be eager to bounce back from a tough defeat at Luton where they played well but just were frustrated by a resilient defence, whilst their own defence was twice undone by two marking errors which will surely motivate them coming into this London derby.

Now if West Ham can find their usual spark should Bowen start and Palace show more composure in their end product to clinically convert their chances, I think that we might have a tough competitive game on our hands which could end in a draw.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

Result: West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace
