Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in a blockbuster Premier League clash.
Victory will see Man City stay second in the group, whilst Tottenham can go as high as third depending upon Liverpool and Aston Villa’s results elsewhere.
Team News
Mateo Kovacic is set to return for Man City after he missed their last two matches with a quad injury.
Matheus Nunes (muscle) and Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring) remain absent.
Tottenham could welcome Richarlison back into contention following his recovery from a groin injury.
Yves Bissouma (suspension) is set to return but Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle) is ruled out.
Cristian Romero (suspension), Ryan Sessegnon, Mickey van de Ven (both hamstring), Manor Solomon (knee), Pape Matar Sarr (knock), Ivan Perisic (ACL), James Maddison and Alfie Whiteman (both ankle) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Man City host Tottenham in a 4:30pm GMT kick-off at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 3 December, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man City have claimed seven points in their last eight league meetings against Tottenham (W2, D1, L5),
- Tottenham have won one of their last seven league visits to Man City (W1, D2, L4).
- Spurs’ Dejan Kulusevski has scored in each of his last two visits to Man City (W1, L1).
- Man City are yet to concede more than one goal at home in all competitions this season (W….).
- Son Heung-Min has been involved in nine league goals for Tottenham this season, of which he scored eight goals and created one assist in 13 appearances.
Prediction
Since their return from the international break, Man City haven’t exactly been at their best with a sluggish effort in their draw against Liverpool, which continued in the first half against RB Leipzig before they found their performance in a second-half comeback which they must build on here.
Tottenham meanwhile are definitely missing key players like Romero, Sarr and Maddison but it’s a good job that Bissouma is back in midfield, otherwise their midfield would certainly be up against it if not for his quality this season.
Spurs’ defence however has become very leaky afte going 1-0 up in their last three games which they went on to lose, so a tighter defence will be crucial to stopping City if we see the team which hammered RB Leipzig in the second half.
Should City however revert to their recent sloppiness then I can see Tottenham having a decent chance at getting something, but I ultimately just can’t see City losing this game given Spurs’ injury crisis.
Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Tottenham
